Long Term Care Home Service Accountability Agreements (L-SAA)

In this section we will provide information and linkages for the benefit of health service providers.

LAPS Guidelines

In order to facilitate negotiation of the L-SAAs, each Health Service Provider will be required to submit a planning document known as the Long-Term Care Home Annual Planning Submission (LAPS). Central themes of the LAPS are service planning, measurement and evaluation of health services, and organizational performance. The LAPS together with the L-SAA form the basis of a multi-year funding and planning framework. This framework supports the province’s efforts to enhance stability and accountability of the health system by providing a more sustainable financial footing and facilitating alignment of the provision of health services across health sectors and in line with Ministry and LHIN priorities.

L-SAA Communiqués

It is a requirement of the Local Health System Integration Act, 2006 that LHINs have a service accountability agreement (SAA) in place with each health service provider that it funds. The current long-term care SAAs (L-SAAs) will expire on March 31, 2013. A new process has been initiated with the long-term care sector to collaborate on the development of the next L-SAA, which will come into effect on April 1, 2013.
