Rural and Northern Health Care Framework
Ensuring rural and northern Ontarians have access to health care, as close to home as possible is a key priority for the Ontario government. As such, the government formed a Rural and Northern Health Care Panel as stage one of the development of a rural and northern health care framework. The mandate of this panel was to identify a vision, strategic directions and principles to assist government and Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) in ensuring quality of care as defined by access to care in rural and northern communities. The panel has completed their work and submitted their report to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care.
