The Champlain LHIN's health system planning and funding functions are now part of Ontario Health, a government agency responsible for ensuring Ontarians continue to receive high-quality health care services where and when they need them.

Wait Times

The Champlain LHIN is committed to improving wait times for our residents. As key partners in Ontario’s Wait Times Strategy, we coordinate efforts to improve wait times in Emergency Departments as well as key services like MRI and CT scans, cancer surgery, and cataract surgery.

Champlain Emergency Department / Alternate Level of Care Steering Committee

Reducing wait times in emergency departments (ED) and the time people wait for alternative levels of care (ALC) continue to be important priorities in our region. The Champlain ED / ALC Steering Committee provides strategic advice to the Champlain LHIN Senior Management Team to inform decisions related to strategic orientations to ensure positive progress against ED and ALC targets. Specifically, the ED / ALC Steering Committee:

  • Provides insight into root causes of ED wait times and ALC pressures
  • Provides recommendations related to initiatives that address ED wait times and ALC volumes in the Champlain LHIN
  • Champions initiatives that are intended to impact on ED wait times and ALC pressures
  • Mobilizes the appropriate individuals and groups to identify solutions to ED / ALC problems or barriers.
